Faithful, Diverse & Open-Minded

Faith & Diversity

The Plattsburgh - Adirondack Coast area is amazingly diverse, thanks to:

  • SITE OF THE FORMER PLATTSBURGH AIR FORCE BASE. The Air Force hosted thousands of Air Force personnel and their families from all over the country, keeping the community connected to all facets of America. Plattsburgh's friendliness and quality of life made it a permanent home of choice for a great many, keeping the area diverse, open, and very welcoming to newcomers.
  • HOME TO PLATTSBURGH STATE UNIVERSITY. Plattsburgh State University draws students, faculty and staff from all over the country and from all backgrounds, as well as from around the world. And as with former Air Force personnel who loved Plattsburgh and stayed, the area has also become the home of choice for thousands of Plattsburgh State Alumni.
  • OUR INTERNATIONAL CONNECTION. Plattsburgh is "Montreal’s U.S. Suburb" and Montreal is one of the most diverse and cosmopolitan cities in North America, offering access to almost every conceivable faith just one hour up the road.
  • OUR OLYMPIC SPIRIT. Lake Placid, home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games, still embodies the Olympic Spirit as it routinely hosts international athletic competitions and visitors from around the world.

BLACK Americans, People of color, and Canadians

Plattsburgh is also adjacent to Montreal which hosts a diverse mix of people from all over the world - especially from French speaking Africa and the Caribbean. For more information:
